Luz Escamilla

This month, we recognized Senator Luz Escamilla at the Martha Hughes Cannon Awards, where she was honored with the Outstanding Impact in the Democratic Party award. Elected to the Utah State Senate in 2008, Senator Escamilla made history as the first Latina in the Utah State Senate. Currently serving as the Minority Leader, she is known for her practical approach and ability to collaborate on important issues across party lines.

Senator Escamilla holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Utah. Her career includes serving as the first director of the State Office of Ethnic Affairs and as the vice president for Zions Bank in the Community Development Group. Presently, she is the co-founder and managing partner of ESCATEC Solutions, focusing on enhancing customer experiences for various organizations.

Honoring Senator Escamilla at the Martha Hughes Cannon Awards was a meaningful moment for us. It acknowledged her dedication to serving the people of Utah and highlighted her as a role model for women in leadership. Bringing her daughters to the event emphasized her commitment to inspiring future generations of women leaders in Utah.
